Giftcards

In this article, we'll talk about how to set up your own gift cards in the backoffice of the POS system and how to use them at checkout on the Point of Sale (POS).

We recognize 3 types of gift cards:

  1. Own Cards

Step 1: Setting up gift cards in the backoffice:

To be able to sell and use gift cards, you first need to set them up in the backoffice of your POS system. This includes adding a gift card product and assigning unique card codes to each gift card.

    • Activate the Gift Card app in the app store.
    • Add a product as a gift card in this app.
    • To accept your own gift card as a payment method, activate it under: Sales Channels > Settings > Available Payment Options - Gift Card.
    • Set up Gift Card buttons for the POS.
    • Create your own gift cards with a barcode or unique codes. These do not need to be imported. When issuing a new card, it can be scanned and loaded with the desired amount.
    • Importing self-made gift cards with a barcode and importing previously issued gift cards with an amount is possible via the 'Import Gift Cards' app.

Step 2: Selling own gift cards:

Once the gift cards are set up and created in the backoffice, they can be sold to customers. This can be done at the register using the 'gift card' button, and by scanning or entering the card code, an amount can be added. Existing cards can be topped up using the 'top up' button.

Step 3: Using gift cards at the POS:

When a customer makes a purchase and wants to use a gift card, first enter the products the customer wants to buy, press pay and select 'gift card' as the payment method on the next screen.

Accepting the card in the Webshop (with Pin) is only possible if the amount is sufficient.

Reporting and management of gift cards:

In addition to selling and using gift cards, it's important to keep track of the stock and financial aspects.

    • Through the Gift Cards app, you can see all gift cards and their status and expenditures.
    • Through the Import Gift Cards app, you can read in new gift cards to be generated (barcode/pin) as well as previously issued customer cards with the customer name and the outstanding amount.
    • You can generate these barcodes yourself using tools available on the web, or you could also have scratch cards with pin codes made (not a service of StoreKeeper, but there are plenty of suppliers who offer this).
  2. External cards such as the VVV card, Fashion check, etc.

Step 1: Setting up external cards in the backoffice:

External gift cards must be activated as payment methods in the Backoffice of StoreKeepers.

    • Activate them by going to Settings > StoreKeeper Payments > Payment Methods and activating the desired gift cards.

Step 2: Using external cards at the POS:

Redeeming external cards at the POS works the same as redeeming the 'own gift card'. See step 3 above.

  3. CCV lab and GroupCard (CityID) gift cards

Apps for these can be found in the App store. For CCV Lab Gift Card integration, you can link your CCV Connect account, and for GroupCard, set up a payment link with the CityID partner ID to accept payments. This offers labels like the "Deventer Doet Pas" and "Hilversum Gift Card."

Management of these cards is via a separate dashboard and transaction tab.

The management of these cards is conducted through a dedicated dashboard and transaction tab.
